For the Weekend Warriors, Weirdos & Whackjobs - Issue #1
A great way to mess up a weekend from the comfort of your web browser.
This week was pretty low-key for a grizzled bullshit hunter. I’ve been recovering from a bit of, let’s say, work transition. So I’ve actively been kind of keeping my head down and avoiding anything weird. You know?
I do have a sweet docu-series lined up to watch that I have linked below, and I listened to the excellent Project Brazen podcast Spy Valley, also linked below. Take a stab at the Side Quest too if you have the spoons!
What I Am Watching This Weekend
Atlas of Cursed Places (National Geographic - Disney+) - this looks super cool, a show that covers the various curses of Atlantis, The Bermuda Triangle, my winged homie The Mothman and others. I shall report back!
From Last Weekend
What I Watched
H.H. Holmes: Original Evil (Amazon Prime)
This movie was fucking terrible. This thing should be lit on fire and put out with an axe.
*shame bell*
Shame. Shame. Shame.
Side Quest
I have not yet gone on this side quest. I’ll wait for some responses over the coming weeks and then be sure to update y’all.
H.H. Holmes was alleged to have killed over 200 people, but only confessed to 27 (some of which were still alive, so that’s neat I guess). The movie indicates that the 200 victim myth came from a pulp magazine in the 1940s. What magazine was this? Bonus points for screenshots!
What I Listened To
Spy Valley from Project Brazen.
10/5 stars. This was a fantastic podcast on Silicon Valley, espionage, and the Cold War. There are some truly poignant, throat-clutching moments weaved throughout. A masterpiece. You gotta click the link above too, it has such a cool interface:
Have a great weekend, smoke something fun (if legal in your jurisdiction, of course) and see you next week!
Bullsh*t Hunting Crew
Seriously, y'all gotta go check out the Spy Valley terminal thing. It's so cool.
Atlas of Cursed Places isn’t too shabby... I’ve seen two episodes, def liked the Romania/Dracula one.
