For the Weekend Warriors, Weirdos & Whackjobs - Issue #43
Bulging pockets aren't always an indicator of a crime in progress.
This week we had
gazing at various trousers across the legal world, wondering to herself: Is that a file cabinet in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Leaving all phallic references where they belong—on Twitter—our glorious practitioner of the dark legal arts (not for you or us, though) walks us through how lawyers discuss digital forensics and frame them around the old ‘file cabinet’ metaphor. It’s a worthwhile read and thought exercise and something that both investigators, forensicators and attorneys alike should think about.
Advocacy: Cooking With Gas
There are a number of cases now moving. Cases being accepted to Innocence Projects, poorly behaving lawyers getting called out by the California Bar and digital forensics on 1980s-era machines getting prepped in West Virginia. If you haven’t taken a look at our Advocacy Page in a while, you really should, and click through to the other websites and podcasts to learn more.
What Justin Watched
Kairo (Pulse) 2001
C/W: Suicide. Graphic images. Violence.
A strange sickness is falling over people - it doesn’t kill them but it does make people kill themselves. One part paranormal, one part Dark Web before there really was such a thing in the mainstream media. Pulse tells a tale in the vein of other classic Japenese horror flicks that you might find familiar - like The Ring or the Grudge.
The visuals in this movie, at times disturbing, are also extremely unique - with some of the shots providing truly terrifying movements from incredibly haunting, misshapen forms.
You can also watch the English version with Kristen Bell free on Tubi - for now!
Oh, and in case you missed it, we’re about to throw something new in the mix:
