For the Weekend Warriors, Weirdos & Whackjobs - Issue #12
A little rage-writing never hurt anyone.
Whewf!
Is anyone else starting to feel that back-to-work-New-Year craziness yet? We are definitely feeling it here with a long list of stories and advocacy work that is developing.
We had a duet between Justin and Somebody Else’s Lawyer with a piece titled: Juries Will Break Your Heart, that introduces you to the beginning of the Ryan Madden story and continues to describe our ongoing and growing disgust for AEDPA. Stay tuned for a Side Quest that will follow it very shortly, sure to disgust you further, as we are known to do.
Next week we’re going to shift gears and turn to digital forensics. Where a Canadian digital forensics expert and former law enforcement member will discuss his views on how digital forensics can be examined skeptically and hopefully, done properly, in the future.
What Justin Read This Week
How to Solve a Cold Case (Amazon Affiliate Link) - I had this book collecting dust on my bookshelf for awhile and was looking forward to seeing what insights I could glean for this type of work and how it might apply to my own casework. While the writing is loose at times I thoroughly enjoy walking through cases, understanding how people made mistakes and of course I just enjoy being inside of another investigator’s mind as they work through their process. I think this one is worth a read and should be added to the bookshelf so you can assess it for yourself.
From Last Weekend
What Justin Watched
From (Amazon Prime) - this is a horror/science fiction series that I just can’t seem to stop watching. It is dark, it’s weird, it’s culty, it’s maybe got aliens? I don’t even know. But it will scratch all the weird itches for you I have no doubt. Go check it out, I am buttcheeks-clenched through the end of Season 1 and heading into Season 2. It has not disappointed.
Stay warm, stay hydrated, moisturize. Peace out!
